China Creek Ranch
In 1985 Gary and Penny purchased a 35 acre mountain retreat which they named China Creek Ranch. Nestled in a pine forest with seasonal streams and permanent ponds, the land is adjacent to the Sierra National Forest, near Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park. In July 1992 the GAIA Foundation was founded with China Creek Ranch becoming its mountain headquarter. What was once only enjoyed by friends and family has now become a gathering place for other environmental organizations to hold seminars, retreats, and conferences.
