MEET THE TEAM
Gary L. Morris, President & Founder
Gary L. Morris, Founder and President of the Gaia Foundation, based in Los Angeles, California with a retreat and conference center near Yosemite Park in the Sierras. Gary continues to serve as the President of Pacific Crest Consultants, a land use planning firm that specializes in green development and partnering private land holders with public agencies to create conservation easements and tax credits. He has written numerous articles and a soon to be published book, outlining his discovery of the Gaia Hypothesis. In addition to his consulting practice, he has served on several boards including Chair of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, the Board of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley and the Board of Governors of the Coro Foundation. As an ultra-marathoner, Gary was the 4th person to run 146 miles from Death Valley to the top of California’s highest point, 14,494 foot Mt. Whitney and spent several years organizing a 25,000 mile “Tri-Earthlon Race” around the world for UNICEF with several corporate sponsors including Kodak and Coca Cola, but ultimately blocked by China in the early 1980’s.
Penny Flinn, Co-Founder & Secretary
Penny Flinn continues to serve as co-owner and Executive Vice President of Pacific Crest Consultants, where she and her staff currently are working on over 100 major projects in greater Los Angeles. In addition to her consulting practice, Penny has also served as the President of Haven Hills, a shelter for battered women and as a Board Member and Chair of the Land Use Committee for the Valley Industry and Commerce Association representing over 300,000 people in small to large businesses.
Gordon Gibson has spent his life building not only homes, but the lives and success of those around him. 1966 not only marked the start to Gordon Gibson Construction but also his start to bettering his community in every way- from sitting on the board of New Directions, helping veterans find success back in society to supporting many wildlife preservation funds including World Wildlife Fund, Nature Conservancy, and Audubon Society. His passion for GAIA and the revival of our ecosystems are rooted in his mindset that a healthy, sustainable future are necessary to for our children – and our planet – to survive.
Jon Perica, Forest Conservation Director
Jon Perica is the GAIA Foundation Director of Forest Conservation. In the past 25 years, he has traveled to 74 countries and all seven continents. During recent trips to Patagonia, Madagascar and Bhutan he researched how GAIA Foundation resources can best support local reforestation and conservation efforts. Jon worked for 35 years as an environmental policy planner and land use zoning administrator. His undergraduate and graduate work was done at UCLA.
